On March 16, 2005 the National Center for State Courts held a press conference to release a 10-point blueprint for improving courthouse security and to announce its sponsorship of a national summit on court safety and security to be held next month.
While “The Essential Ten Elements for Effective Courtroom Safety and Security Planning” blueprint provides a framework for the full development of court security strategies, the Summit will result in a strategic action plan that will draw from a compilation of best practices and will provide the mechanism for identifying resource and funding needs.
The press conference proved a success with representatives from the New York Times, CBS News, Fox, NBC News, CNN, C-SPAN, COX-TV, Bloomberg, the Associated Press, Dispatch Broadcast TV, Hearst-Argyle TV, Legal Times, and the Criminal Justice Funding Report in attendance.
At this current time, there have been approximately 130 TV and radio hits as a result of the National Center for State Courts press conference on March 16, 2005. Outcomes of the press conference have been covered by print sources including the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Kansas City Star, Seattle Post Intelligencer, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Contra Costa Times, Philly.com, and many others.
